Abstract: 

Using a fullwave analysis, the integral equation for unknown electric field distribution on the SLOT apertures of GCPW is derived. Then it is numerically solved in the space domain using the method of moments. Using derived electric field distribution and ideal transmission line theory, the discontinuity parameters of short-end and open-end GCPW are computed and compared with CPW. In addition, a comparison between the CPW and GCPW effective dielectric constant is presented.

Abstract: 

In this paper, for the first time, effects of external electromagnetic fields on a coplanar WAVEGUIDE (CPW) are numerically studied by means of the method of finite elements. Two CPW lines with different geometry and dielectric substrate permittivity are considered. Both lines have characteristic impedance of 50 Ω . Induced electric and magnetic fields on the two CPW lines are analyzed by illuminating the structure with a plane wave. The uniform plane wave with fixed frequency at 3 GHz is considered as the incident field. The influences of the incidence angle and dielectric substrate permittivity are investigated. For this purpose, two incidence planes are considered and, for each case, two polarizations, parallel and perpendicular, for incidence electric field relative to incidence planes are studied. According to the results, for the two CPW lines terminated with their characteristic impedance at both ends and the incident plane wave with electric-field intensity of 1 V/m at f = 3 GHz with incidence angles of 22. 5˚ and 45˚ , maximum peaks of the induced field occur and also, depending on the incidence plane, incidence angle and E-field polarization, even or odd quasi-TEM mode of the CPW line can be propagated.

Abstract: 

In this paper, a novel WAVEGUIDE array antenna composed of non-inclined SLOTs in the narrow wall of the WAVEGUIDE, which are excited with rectangular Iris is introduced. This new method in addition to improving impedance and radiation characteristics has an easy production process. Also, because of using non-inclined SLOTs, the antenna has very low cross polarization level. In this paper, in the first step, suitable radiating elements for designing a linear SLOT array antenna were considered, and then a linear array suitable surveillance radar with 136 elements with Taylor distribution is designed and simulated with HFSS at the frequency of (2.7 - 3.1) GHz. Finally, the antenna has been fabricated and tested. The results of the test and simulation are in good agreement.

Abstract: 

In this paper a cavity backed SLOT antenna (CBSA) has been designed and fabricated in ridge gap WAVEGUIDE technology. To increase the bandwidth of cavity backed SLOT antenna, two perturbations have been made at to corners of the RGW cavity. The perturbations cause to deviation of resonance frequencies of two degenerate TM100 and TM010 modes. The SLOT is embedded at the optimum place on the top plate of RGW cavity to create the radiation performance. The cavity is fed by a RGW which has been connected to WR62 WAVEGUIDE port via staircase transition. parametric study is done to obtain optimum dimensions and position of SLOT, perturbation and transition using HFSS software. The simulation results show about 10 % bandwidth for S11.

Abstract: 

The Application of elliptic shaped ridge WAVEGUIDE is presented for excitation of a centreline longitudinal shunt SLOT antenna. The proposed method is realized by adding elliptic shaped to the ridge of the single ridge WAVEGUIDE.The elliptic shaped ridge is placed exactly under the longitudinal SLOT and the SLOT placed along centreline of the WAVEGUIDE. It is shown that for a typical SLOT, the SLOT normalized conductance can be increased by increasing the elliptic shaped depth. The simulation results show that the proposed structure can be considered as a proper candidate for replacing the conventional longitudinal shunt SLOT.

Abstract: 

In this paper, the performance of a temperature sensor based on plasmonic structure including a SLOT WAVEGUIDE coupled with a stub resonator has been investigated. The results have been attained based on the dependency of dispersion equation, and so, the resonance frequency of the stub, to electric permittivity of the constructing material of the structure, InSb, which is also dependent to the ambient temperature. The design of the structure has been carried out for frequencies in terahertz spectra. The simulation results confirm an approximate linear relation between the resonance frequencies and ambient temperature, between 260-350 Kelvin. Also, a criterion has been assigned for evaluation the sensitivity and the performance temperature span of the proposed sensor. The calculated sensitivity is about 1×10-10 Kelvin per Hertz in the mentioned temperature interval. The sensor measurement resolution depends on the frequency resolution of the detection system. This simple sensor can be utilized in various chemical and bio systems.

Abstract: 

A new hybrid method based on multimode contour integral and mode matching techniques will be introduced. It is capable of analyzing any H-plane discontinuity in a rectangular WAVEGUIDE.The process is based on segmentation and dividing the structure into key building blocks. We use the multimode contour integral method to analyze the blocks including irregular shape H-plane discontinuities.In opposite to traditional contour integral method, which considers only the effect of dominant mode (TE10 ) on wave ports, multimode contour integral considers the effect of higher order modes (TEn0 ) excited by discontinuities on these ports. The mode matching technique will be used to analyze the connecting blocks which can be easily treated by modal expansion. Then the generalized scattering matrix (GSM) of the whole structure can be found by cascading the blocks. The accuracy of our purposed method is validated by comparison with results obtained by other methods.

Abstract: 

In this study, a new simple method for design and implementation of rectangular WAVEGUIDE leaky wave antenna with the longitudinal long SLOT is presented. In this method which has been done using HFSS, firstly, the WAVEGUIDE attenuation is calculated based on the position of the SLOT in relation to the WAVEGUIDE broad wall. Then the desired aperture illumination is fitted to the SLOT position on the broad wall of the WAVEGUIDE by MATLAB. Finally, a Taylor-distributed rectangular WAVEGUIDE leaky wave antenna with 30 dB SLL designed and fabricated in ku band. The good agreement between the simulation and the measurement results for radiated patterns verifies the effectiveness of the presented method.

Abstract: 

circularly-polarized antenna is built based on new SIW(substrate integrated WAVEGUIDE) structure which contains cavity-backed resonator and a conventional polarized ring with two square slits in inner and outer ring that differ 90° at position and is proposed for right-handed circular polarization (RHCP) and fabricated in two separate layers. A broadband impedance bandwidth of 13.9% and a RHCP axial ratio of 0.5GHz have been obtained under the condition of less than VSWR ≤2 and axial ratio≤ 3 dB, respectively.

Abstract: 

low cross-polarization SLOT array antenna in the narrow wall of ridge WAVEGUIDE is presented. A non-angled SLOT which is created in the narrow wall of the ridge WAVEGUIDE is considered to be used as radiating resonant SLOT. The normalized resistance and normalized reactance curves are presented for design purposes. A six element SLOT array WAVEGUIDE antenna with ridges on its narrow wall is then designed at frequency of 9 GHz using the normalized conductance of each radiating SLOT. It is shown that good performance can be achieved even for angled ridge in WAVEGUIDE. The antenna has the characteristics SLL of -20 dB and cross-polarization equivalent to -60 dB.
